UNC Awarded Fall 2024 Community Needs Grant from Scranton Area Community Foundation

United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania (UNC) recently received a $12,000 Fall 2024 Community Needs grant from the Scranton Area Community Foundation to support the agency’s Emergency Services, which assists over 12,000 clients and their families each year with immediate help for basic needs including food, rent, utility assistance, clothing, gasoline, prescription vouchers, and housing support. UNC helps families stabilize their finances and work toward long-term self-sufficiency through our Angel’s Attic Food and Clothing pantry and case management services.

UNC’s Emergency Assistance Program has been a vital resource for vulnerable populations in the community for decades, providing essential support to individuals and families in crisis.

Beyond immediate relief, the program strengthens the community by addressing critical needs, stabilizing households, and connecting individuals to long-term resources. This comprehensive approach not only aids those currently unhoused but also helps prevent future homelessness. The agency is thankful for the ongoing support of the Scranton Area Community Foundation for assistance with this growing need in the community.
