UNC services include child care centers with transportation, pre-school programs, youth programs, older adult programs, community health education, free screenings, community services, community education (free adult literacy, English as a Second Language, and citizenship classes), community revitalization, and community development (affordable housing).

Our UNC Locations: Scranton, Tunkhannock, Jessup, Carbondale, West Pittston. This position is located in Scranton, PA.

Hours: Full and Part-time opportunities available

Options for schedule/hours:

30.5 hours/week: 6:30-8:30am OR 7-9am and 2-6pm (1:30-6 on Tuesdays)

20.5 hours/week: 2-6pm (1:30-6 on Tuesdays)

Position Summary:

The Child Care Teacher (Group Supervisor) will coordinate the educational, social, emotional, and physical development of the children in the program.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert for the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group.
  • Plan age-appropriate curriculum in detail for assigned class that helps each child develop to the fullest in each area of development.
  • Implement the daily program with the help of an assistant or aide if applicable.
  • Maintain an environment that helps each child to have a positive experience throughout the day.
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect and allow for individual differences. Provide an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for each child and show as much individual attention as possible to each child.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional relationship with all families and staff.
  • Keep the classroom, storage rooms, and bathroom clean, neat, and orderly. All staff share housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Conduct individual conferences with parents of each child as needed.

Education/Experience/Licensure:

  • Associates in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required.
  • Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with children in a child care facility is preferred.
