Join UNC and the South Side Neighborhood Association (SSNA) as we team up with EPSCO, Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, PennDOT, and Keep PA Beautiful to take pride in our streets and our properties.

We are asking property and business owners to pick up litter around their properties in a socially distanced effort on Sunday, April 18, 2021.

We are offering FREE supplies to anyone who wants to participate in the event. Trash bags, gloves, and vests will de distributed at the South Side Farmers Market located at 601 Cedar Ave, Scranton from 9am-1pm on the day before the cleanup, SATURDAY, APRIL 17. The cleanup will be on SUNDAY, APRIL 18, 2021.

In keeping with our green initiative we are hosting a social media contest for those who are participating!
1. Sign up for the event by contacting Holly Yorkonis at hyorkonis@uncnepa.org or call 570-346-6203.
2. Pick up your supplies at the South Side Farmers Market on Saturday, April 17th.
3. Clean up your front yards on Apr 18th.
4. Take a picture of your cleaned up space.
5. Post your picture(s) to our social media pages using the #southsideshines
6. You are entered to win $10 in Farmers Market Bucks!

Furthermore, if you want to sign up to be a volunteer to assist in cleaning up in the Cedar Iron District, please contact Holly at UNC. We will focus on Cedar and Pittston Aves from the 300-800 blocks!
